A fine marinara sauce can form the backbone of any tomato-based dish or snack. From using it as a dip for breadsticks or tortilla’s, to enhancing a sandwich and beyond, this is a mighty accompaniment that has it all. Furthermore, the sauce itself will happily play the role of condiment when jarred up and served at a picnic style event.
A Few Extra Words of Wisdom
Tomatoes – It’s worth resisting the urge to use fresh tomatoes on this one, as the Italian tinned variety will yield better results. Despite coming in a can, these tasty red orbs feature a world class flavour profile and do not suffer from their form of confinement. Despite this, those looking to go old school can prepare their own from scratch by lightly baking them, removing the skin, then boiling down their water content.
Additional Seasoning – As is the way of the world, some folks like their tomato-based accompaniments to blow your head off. As such, these hardy individuals can supercharge their sauce with the addition of their favourite chili pepper. In addition, less fiery folks can try adding a hearty dose of garlic, and/or ginger to their concoction. As well as a spot of bacon or other cured meat product when looking to take their sauce to the next level.
