Probably my favourite smoothie out there, this thirst-quenching drink blends the sweetness of mango with the tart notes of passion fruit to produce the perfect summer refreshment. So much so, it was my morning pick-me-up of choice when I got ‘stranded’ in Thailand during the whole covid fever-dream. Containing mostly fruit, with a little sugar thrown in, this icy treat will probably do your health some good without resorting to any of that beetroot and kale nonsense. So, let’s hook up the blender to the national grid and spin up a glass of the best possible Mango and Passion Fruit Smoothie.

Perfecting the Mango and Passion Fruit Smoothie
A Small Note on Fresh Fruit
Having a look around the interweb, I have seen many recipes calling for synthetic or processed fruit and juices in their smoothies. Therefore, I should advise that you avoid taking this route wherever possible and use fresh fruit when available. Due to the exotic nature of the ingredients listed, it may take a little time to acquire what you need, but, believe me, its worth the effort.
Getting the Right Blend
To get the perfect slushy consistency for this beautiful drink, concocters of fruity liquid should think very carefully about the equipment they acquire. A great option for those on a budget comes in the shape of this Hamilton Beach blender, folks with a little more flexibility can take a look at this Ninja Device, and those with unlimited funds should consider this absolute powerhouse of a machine.
Can I add Alcohol to my Mango and Passion Fruit Smoothie?
Yes, you can, and the answer in Rum. For those looking to add an alcoholic punch to their otherwise healthy refreshment, rum will make an excellent addition. Both the spiced and white varieties will sit pretty well alongside the tropical ingredients, while the black stuff will work, but won’t balance quite so well in the whole scheme of things. If you find yourself a little on the light on the rum front, you can substitute vodka instead.

Pairing Healthy with some Unhealthy
Now that you’ve gone to all that effort to consume something healthy (probably), how about ruining all that good work with a spot of cake. Due to its strong citrus punch, I like to pair my Mango and Passion Fruit Smoothie with a spot of my infamous Lemon Drizzle Cake. Alternatively, this Chelsea Bun recipe will prove equally satisfying.
